Our Big Bikeathon Journey for Overgate Hospice’s Big Build
At Nestora Home Care, we’re always looking for meaningful ways to give back to the community — and this summer, we put our legs (and lungs!) to the test in support of a cause that’s close to our hearts: Overgate Hospice’s Big Build campaign in Halifax.
To raise funds and awareness, our team took on the Big Bikeathon challenge — virtually cycling the entire length of the UK, from Land’s End to John O’Groats, a total of 1,042 miles.
The Ride: A Virtual Team Effort
Though we didn’t reach our full mileage goal, our team gave it their all — collectively cycling hundreds of miles, cheering each other on, and pushing through the miles one day at a time.
In total, we managed to raise £230 for Overgate Hospice. While our original fundraising goal was £1,000, we’re still incredibly proud of what we accomplished — and we’re grateful to every single person who donated, shared our fundraiser, or encouraged us along the way.
Why Overgate Hospice?
Overgate Hospice provides specialist care and support to people facing life-limiting illnesses and their families in our local community. Their Big Build project is a bold plan to expand and modernise their facilities, ensuring they can support even more people with dignity, compassion, and expert care.
This is a cause that matters deeply to us at Nestora Home Care. As a home care provider working across Huddersfield, Halifax and surrounding areas, we understand how vital hospice services are — and we’re honoured to support their vision in any way we can.
What’s Next?
Fundraising is about more than numbers. It’s about coming together for something bigger than ourselves. We’re already thinking about how we can build on this experience and do even more in the future — whether that’s another challenge, community events, or partnerships with local charities in Huddersfield and Halifax.
